Pinhead Oatmeal is the chopped naked oats, that appear in many breakfast cereals we purchase at the supermarket, it's the valuable inner part of the oat that is finely chopped to produce oatmeal that is also used in both wild bird and aviary bird foods. Pinhead Oats or oatmeal is rich in oil and small soft billed, ground feeding birds love them, including wrens and dunnocks!

Pinhead Oatmeal is an ideal food source, rich in energy which is suitable for spring and summer feeding to help busy parents through the energy sapping moult. You can feed the oatmeal by itself or mix it with your favourite wild bird food mixes or straights. Hedgehogs also like oatmeal and can added to table scraps and fruit for a scrumptious meal!

Why not make your own hedgehog food, by mixing pinhead oatmeal, peanut granules and dried mealworms available on the website, with raisins and sultanas from your local supermarket to create a delicious hedgehog food that is cheaper than expensive specialist blended foods?

We advise feeding the oatmeal from a specialist feeder, bird table or simply on the ground and will notice that pinhead oats are very popular with all wild bird species, including hedgehogs and that no food is wasted. You can either feed the oatmeal dry or wet to make a porridge, that can then be fed to your cage and aviary birds or wild birds to keep them warm.
