The suet pellet feeder shown above is ideal for feeding nutritious, easy to digest, high energy suet pellets to the wild birds that visit your garden. The suet pellets are stored in the upper plastic section or tube of the stainless steel suet feeder, helping to protect them from the weather, whilst the bottom mesh section allows easy access to the pellets, with a tray at the bottom of the feeder to catch any uneaten bits.
Suet pellets are irresistible to most wild birds, but it can take a few weeks for birds to feel confident enough to start using a new bird feeder, so we recommend you add small handfuls of suet pellets to the tray at the bottom of the suet feeder to encourage the wild birds to use the feeder. We suggest you leave your other wild bird feeders in place, fill them as normal with your favourite wild birds foods including any suet pellets, until they become accustomed to the new addition, then you can decide weather to feed suet pellets exclusively from the specialist suet pellet feeder.
You can also limit the amount of suet stored in the feeder, until you are sure that enough wild birds are regularly using the feeder to avoid any wastage or prevent the suet from becoming stale. The suet pellet feeder can also be used to dispense peanuts and larger seeds such as black oil sunflower seeds, sunflower hearts or peanuts.
Please note when positioning the suet pellet feeder in your garden, place it away from nesting boxes, so that birds raising young fledglings are not disturbed and out of reach of predators!
