Pigs Ears are a traditional, long-lasting natural treat and chew for your dog that are made from 100% pork, that are used by many owners especially those with working dogs as a training aid, reward for good behaviour and a natural alternative to satisfy your dogs or puppies instinctive urge to chew something, helping to avoid destructive behaviour in the home. Despite receiving bad press and criticism on the internet, rawhide chews and pigs ears have been given to dogs for long as I can remember, are safe and should be given to them under supervision and ideal for those dogs that love to chew.
Dried pig ears are high in natural Omega 3 oils and Iron, an essential mineral that will help promote a healthy glossy coat, but also glucosamine and chondroitin from the cartilage in the ears supporting your dog's joint health. Please note we advise owners to give them to your dog either outside or on a non stainable surface to avoid stains or smells from the pigs ears being absorbed into carpets or furnishings!
Our pigs ears will sell are 'Good Old Fashioned' large ears, NOT strips or trimmed ears sold by many sellers, making them harder to swallow without chewing them first and supplied by us in economical bulk nets of 25, 50 and 100 pig ears with FREE Delivery, which will keep for many months providing they are kept dry and not stored in a damp shed or outbuilding.
But if your dog loves pig ear strips, here's a
top tip that will save you money. Grab yourself a pair of garden secateurs and cut whole ears into strips yourself, it's so simple you probably wondering why you didn't think of this before!
Most dogs find pigs ears simply irresistible there crunchy, smell great, well at least to them and will help remove food deposits around your dog's teeth by scraping away at plaque and tartar build up when your dog chews on them. But I haven't tried them myself so I guess it's like doggie bacon heaven for your four legged friend and I have no plans to find out anytime soon so please no requests, pigs ears are strictly for dogs!
Alternatively if you don't like the smell or texture of pigs ears or perhaps are looking for a dog treat that's similar, but lower in protein why not try some
Cows Ears instead that are cheaper, lower in fat and available in bulk boxes with Free Delivery!
So are pigs' ears suitable for dogs with sensitivities?
Pig's ears are grain and gluten-free, made from 100% Pork, and suitable for dogs with food sensitivities. But why, you may ask? Pig's ears only contain a single source of animal protein, pork, eliminating the risk of being exposed to any other meat protein that your dog may be allergic to. Unfortunately, cheap dog foods, treats and chews are often made from meat derivatives, i.e. hidden mixed meats.
So, feeding a natural dog chew like a pig's ear will help owners avoid food-related triggers that cause allergies and sensitivities, such as digestive upsets, skin irritation and ear infections.
Pig's ears, like rawhide chews and tripe sticks, are high in protein, so it's a good idea to feed them in moderation to avoid your dog's weight increasing, so basically the same advice people are given about eating too much chocolate!
